The Honorable Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, proclaims April 20, 2013, as Indiana Music Therapy Day.

This proclamation is intended to inform the residents of Indiana of the availability and benefits of music therapy.

WHEREAS, Indiana residents benefit from music therapy through improvements in many areas including communication, cognition, motor, emotional, and social skills; and

WHEREAS, music therapy is accessible in Indiana hospitals, mental health facilities, nursing facilities, hospice centers, day programs, private music therapy practices and schools; and

WHEREAS, music therapy degrees of undergraduate and graduate levels are offered in four Indiana colleges/universities; and

WHEREAS, on April 20, 2013, the Association for Indiana Music Therapy and the University of Evansville will hold the annual spring presentations, where professional music therapists and music therapy students will attend sessions for professional growth.
